
Dr. Hamad Al Jassmi is the Director of Emirates Center for Mobility Research (ECMR) at UAE University. He is an Associate Professor of Civil Engineering at UAE University, and a Research Fellow of University of New South Wales, Sydney. Dr. Al Jassmi obtained his PhD in Civil Engineering from the University of New South Wales in Australia, ranked 19th globally. Before his PhD studies, Dr. Al Jassmi obtained his Bachelors and Masters degrees from the United Kingdom at the University of Greenwich, and the University of Cardiff.
Dr. Al Jassmi has more than 15 years industry experience in which he acted as Project Manager, Planner or Researcher at numerous high-profile consultancy projects related to life-cycle assessment of surface transport projects, mobility policy making, transportation planning and traffic safety.
Dr. Al Jassmi’s research interests include the development of predictive models, decision support systems, and multicriteria decision frameworks for the buildings and infrastructure sector. He published more than 70 peer-reviewed articles, most which appeared in top ranked international journals. He has 4 recognized inventions, one for which he was granted a US patent, and two for which he received UAEU Chancellor’s innovation 1st place award in three consecutive years: 2019, 2020 and 2021. He also received the prestigious “UAE Innovates” national award 2021 by Mohammed bin Rashid Centre for Government Innovation (MBRCGI), and the 1st place Research & Innovation Award 2022 by the Ministry of Energy & Infrastructure .
Dr. Al Jassmi chaired numerous key national committees related to innovation and research, and acted as a member at numerous key national-level committees, such as the Capacity Review Panel that reviewed the overall traffic safety capacity of the state of Abu Dhabi to implement a Vision-Zero strategy, and a member of the Supreme Council of the Armed Forces Innovation Award sponsored by HH Sheikh Mohammad Bin Zayed Al Nahyan.
